Cookie Policy

Effective date: 15 July 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies Leveluphired sets when you use leveluphired.com, what each one does, and how you can control them. This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a web server. They allow the server to recognise your device on subsequent requests. Similar technologies include localStorage (used to store your consent record in your browser) and sessionStorage.

2. Legal Basis for Cookies

Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) and GDPR, cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you have requested do not require prior consent. All other cookies require freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent before being set.

Leveluphired currently sets only strictly necessary cookies. We will update this policy and prompt for consent before introducing any non-essential cookies.

3. Cookies We Set

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled.

Cookie / Storage keyTypeDurationPurpose
rz_sessionHTTP Cookie (Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax)7 daysAuthenticates your logged-in session. Without this cookie the platform cannot verify that you are the account holder.
sidebar_stateHTTP Cookie (SameSite=Lax)7 daysStores whether you left the application sidebar in an open or closed position. This is a UI preference that allows the interface to restore your last state. It contains no personal data.
rz_consent_v1localStorage (not a cookie)Until you clear browser dataRecords the cookie consent choice you made (accept / reject / custom preferences) and the timestamp. Stored in localStorage rather than a cookie to avoid setting a cookie before you have given consent.

3.2 Analytics Cookies

Leveluphired does not currently use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Heap, Amplitude, or any other third-party cross-site analytics cookies. Server-side usage logs (page views, feature interactions, error logs) are retained for 90 days on our own infrastructure and are not shared with analytics platforms.

3.3 Advertising and Marketing Cookies

Leveluphired does not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads conversion tracking, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or any other advertising, retargeting, or cross-site marketing cookies or pixels. We do not engage in behavioural advertising.

4. Third-Party Cookies

No third-party cookies are set when you use the Leveluphired platform. Our AI sub-processors (Google Gemini, AssemblyAI) are called via server-to-server API requests from our backend, so they do not set cookies in your browser.

5. How to Control Cookies

5.1 Our consent banner

On your first visit, a consent banner is displayed at the bottom of the page. You can choose "Accept all", "Reject non-essential", or "Manage" to set individual preferences. You can revisit your choices at any time by clicking "Cookie preferences" in the footer.

5.2 Browser settings

You can control or delete all cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling the authentication session cookie will prevent you from staying logged in. Browser-specific instructions:

6. What Happens If You Delete Our Cookies

Because we only set strictly necessary cookies, the effects of clearing them are limited and predictable. If you delete the rz_session cookie, you will be logged out and will need to sign in again; nothing in your account is lost. If you delete the sidebar_state cookie, the sidebar simply returns to its default position on your next visit. If you clear localStorage, your recorded cookie consent choice is removed, so the consent banner will appear again on your next visit and ask you to choose again. None of these actions affects your saved resumes, interview history, credits, or any other account data, because that data is stored on our servers against your account and not in your browser.

7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal with each request. Because Leveluphired sets no advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies for any visitor, our behaviour is already equivalent to honouring these signals: there is no tracking to opt out of. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we will treat a GPC signal as a valid objection where the law requires it, in addition to asking for consent through the banner.

8. Updates to This Policy

We will update this Cookie Policy before introducing any new cookies or tracking technologies. Material changes will be notified via the consent banner and in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
